Setting Apart: The Launch of a Lifetime

November 17, 2020, Rebecca Amity Hale was set apart as a full-time missionary in the Washington Seattle Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by President Steve Sargent (assisted by her father, David N. Hale, and grandfather, David S. Hale).  (Location:  Fruit Heights, Utah).


* Recognize each day how fortunate you are to be serving as a representative of the Lord Jesus Christ.
* May you gain a testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and His love for you.
* As you are a diligent student of the Gospel, you will feel strength and power of the Gospel come into your heart.
* You have been blessed with many good qualities--kindness and a happy attitude will shine through.  Keep that smile on your face.
* Be a good companion.
* Always strive to follow the mission rules and guidance of your President and his wife.
* You will have opportunities to share the Gospel frequently. People will enter the waters of baptism because of your teachings, testimony, and example.
* You will be blessed with good health and strength.
* Be wise, make good decisions about where to preach the Gospel.
* Enjoy this experience.  You will be able to focus on the good times.
* Keep a positive outlook.
* You will feel the mantle rest upon you, that you will proudly go forth to serve.
* Help all those wo are in need.

When Rachel gave the opening prayer for this special setting apart, I immediately felt the presence of unseen spirit(s) in the room. I felt a connection to an ancestor who was allowed to participate with us. Whether or not he/they are assigned to be with you during your entire mission, I know not.  But it was a confirmation to me that you will have support from the other side to help you as you meet the challenges of missionary work.

My one word I shared in describing one of your outstanding qualities was CONFIDENCE. You believe in yourself and your ability to set and reach goals.  As a daughter of God, you have been blessed with the ability to touch others through your sweet and caring personality.  We love you and know you will be a worthy representative of the Lord in sharing His Gospel.  As you said in your testimony, you feel the love of your Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ and want to let others know they are loved as well.  

We are so very proud of you and will keep you in our daily prayers.  We look forward to sharing in your mission adventures!  And we are now the proud grandparents of THREE missionaries.  How lucky are we!

Happy Easter :)) Update for this week: A lot of fun stuff happened this week! On Wednesday we were at the church waiting for Teresa and her family because we had a lesson set up, but they ended up being late... so one of the counselors in the Bishopric recruited us to talk to the 14-15 yo boys about missionary work   it was awesome, and they had really good questions! Missionary work is a good time :) On Thursday, we took a member of the Samoan ward tracting with us because she's in the MTC! It was super fun, and she gave us a ton of tips for finding Polynesian people  Friday was Zone Conference and it was AMAZING. I learned a lot, especially from the discussion we had about General Conference. I LOVE Elder Uchtdorf's talk, President Nelson's talk, Elder Eyring's talk, and Elder Klebingöt's talk. You have my sword, and my bow, and my Book of Mormon

Finn Hill is awesome and also odd XD Update for this week: Holy cow I LOVE my new companions!!!! They are both so cool and such good missionaries :) Sister Misi is an AMAZING teacher and so good at asking questions and also very artistic. Sister Beckstead is such a good example and is just so sweet and I'm sad she's gonna leave to her original assignment on the 21st because this trio life is just the best ever :( but she will do amazing things in Brazil too! This week we've been SUPER busy, I've been getting to know members and learning names and stuff, and we've had some lessons, tried to find people to teach, and also met a member who has a sword collection, and also antique/replica firearms, and bows and arrows (longbow and a recurve, none of them modern). Week 2.7 Happy Valentine's Day ❤

Mālō e lelei everyone, happy Valentine's day! Update for this week: We had so many people cancel on us this week and I just want you all to know that although I was never a fan of the Superbowl, I am now very much NOT a fan of the Superbowl  This week we got to see Angela again, and we got her number! She is seriously SO ELECT   we were texting off and on the last couple of days, and she told us about how what she's been reading in the Book of Mormon has been helping her and it is absolutely the SWEETEST!!! She's going through a hard time right now, so please pray for her!! We also met a lady named Flanna!!! We didn't know her, but called a number we had for her on Thursday and talked with her over the phone. THEN she said we could come back on Friday, so we taught her then and made her a friend   she is super cool too, and said could come back next week :)) She told us she wants her whole family to go to church, but she doesn't like going to their church becaus...
