Week 6 I think: it do be cold outside
Hellooooo everybooodddyy!
Update part of this email:
It has been a VERY busy week! Christmas has made everything crazy ๐ ๐ฅณ๐
Last Monday after P-Day ended it actually snowed! Everyone says it never snows BUT THEY WERE WRONG except it only snowed all night and then most of it melted the next day XD it was pretty tho! :)
ALSO so my mission had a visiting general authority (Elder Bowen) give a devotional before I came out and from that came some pretty intense goals.... Each companionship has a goal of 180 testifying contacts (any nonmember we testify of a gospel doctrine to) PER WEEK so that's 30 per day. One day this week my comp and I were like "we're gonna get it today," and so we spent pretty much all day talking to LITERALLY EVERYONE WE SAW--even the UPS man (his name is Patrick; he's a nice guy) ... and because we got the go-ahead for tracting this week we were doing some of that for a few hours ... and we were out literally until we absolutely had to go home ... because ... curfew ... and we got 29 TESTIFYING CONTACTS!!! It was so close but so far but still so awesome! The Lord truly does love effort :))
(Just for comparison, we had TWO yesterday, so we're still working on it! lol)
Because Christmas is a thing, we also got to do drive through caroling on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (first with the district and then with the North Bend sisters we live with and a triplet of elders also came to help, which was nice) and that was FANTASTIC. The very very first woman who drove through cried when we sang O Holy Night and it was way good. :)
Also because we still can't eat inside members houses we've been given literally so much food. Like there's no way we can eat it all before stuff starts going bad there's so much. Especially sugary treats ๐ ๐ ๐
But one family we taught the other night gave us potato soup and fresh homemade bread and it was so good and it definitely made me so happy :))
Scripture of the Week:
We have to memorize D&C 4 (the whole section) which is kind of interesting, but I won't subject you to reading that whole thing in this email so here is John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
I just love that God loves each of us so much that He created a plan centered on helping us become like Him and return to Him someday.
Quotes:
●"No one can know of spiritual truths without prayer" - Preach my Gospel pg 39
●"Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it" -the homeless man cleaning the creek that was 1/2 of our testifying contacts yesterday
●"How long have you been up? A meal and 2 snacks" -Sister Smart and Sister Briggs
●"There's a G word? Gandalf?" - Sister Briggs
●"Oh the counter's flooded. That's fine. That's normal" -Sister Manning
●"My dad warned me about people like you, he said he had a lot of companions who got mad at him for not cleaning the microwave" -Sister Manning to Sister Briggs
Fun Fact:
There are a ton of nutcrackers up here, including inflatable yard decoration versions, and they all look EXACTLY the same (but some are different colors)
P.S. apparently the top half of my face looks like Anna from Frozen? An entire family agreed...
