Week 32: it is SWELTERING in Washington
It is SO HOT
Update for this week:
We had 3 lessons on Friday, one after the other, and they were all just so amazing!!!! One was with our friend Jesse and we were going to make it a drop lesson because he just was not progressing and he wasn't committing to anything, even to pray to know if what we taught him is true. So we go into this lesson fully expecting to drop him but it went entirely differently!!! We taught him the Restoration very simply and seriously and read part of JSH with him and asked him
1. Do you believe God is your eternal Father?
2. Do you believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior and Redeemer of the world?
3. Do you believe the Book of Mormon is true and Joseph Smith was a prophet of God?
And he said YES to ALL OF THEM. We totally thought he was gonna say no to the last one, but he hardly even hesitated 🤯🤯🤯 and then we just told him our purpose and invited him to pray to know whether the things we've taught him were true and what God wants him to do and he said he could do that!! It was crazy awesome :))
One of our other lessons was with our friends Halle and Chris, they're a young couple "church shopping" and they're so cute :)) they came to church in person for the first time 2 sundays ago and LOVED IT so we got to talk about that a bit and answer a lot of questions for them and we talked about prayer and stuff and they said when they prayed together (after we asked them to) they felt more connected with each other:))) and they ended up praying before their dog had his surgery too!!! So we invited them to pray every day and they said they would!!! They also said this whole process has made them a lot happier and they feel good about it and I'm just so excited and happy for them :)))))
Also it's super hot in Washington, it was over 100 for the last 2 days and it's going to be like 111 today. It's only been over 100° like 3 times in the last 100 years, and now we get it 3 times in 3 days! WhAt a MiRacLe (that was sarcastic, it sucks because hardly anyone has AC). One of our members has a portable AC unit that they offered to let us borrow for today and tomorrow if we need and we are so grateful to them because last night I did NOT sleep that well thanks to the heat. I ended up sleeping on the floor because my bed was too hot, and we had BOTH of our fans in our room 😅😭🥵
Scripture of the week:
Isaiah 49:10
"They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them."
It would be really nice if it wasn't as hot up here, or if more people had AC, or something... but whether it's hot or not, whether you're suffering or not, I know that Jesus Christ will always guide us and support us in every aspect of our lives. He is the source of peace, joy, and hope, and because of Him we can have a relationship with God.
Fun Fact:
We're running or walking a mile every day because our Mission President asked us to and they call it Footsteps of Faith and they basically track how far we go from Joseph Smith's birthplace to Washington and tell us about certain church sites between the way
