Week 5: Called to Jury Duty
Good Evening π§π΅️♀️
When you read you begin with A B C when you sing you begin with Do Re Mi and when you go on a mission you begin with an airplane ride. I didn't get lost, which is AMAZING, but it's probably thanks to my friends Sister Haycock and Sister George (who were both going to Baton Rouge). The flight itself was only like an hour and a half, which was nice, and there were like 12 missionaries on my flight, so I didn't get lost coming out of it either π AND NOW I'M IN SEATTLLEEE!!!!! Well not quite Seattle, but I am in Washington. XD I live in a place called North Bend, which actually isn't in my area but it's fun cuz we're with another set of Sister missionaries. :)
My area is the Mount Si ward/area in the Bellevue South stake/zone, and it is literally SO PRETTY πππ (also we do have a car, I don't have to ride a bike a million miles a day, which is nice lol).
My mission President Beardall and Sister Beardall are literally the cutest couple and they have such strong testimonies. It's awesome :))) My companion is Sister Manning, she's from Orem/Pleasant Grove and she's literally the sweetest person. She's super encouraging and kind and I love her. The sisters we live with are Sister Smart and Sister Briggs and they are a "hoot and a half"(something Sister Briggs says a lot), lol. They're also so encouraging and I've been learning so much from all three of them. :)
So far we've done a fair amount of finding, we can't tract so we have to depend on referrals and area book which is a very helpful missionary resource. We've also done a bit of service, I helped one lady decorate her Christmas tree while Sister Manning vacuumed her front room. We also have taught a couple lessons, mostly to members. It feels slightly awkward being in person, but I'll get used to it haha. The members here are literally amazing, I love them all :)) one family set up a nativity outdoors in their neighborhood and set up canopies so they could still do it even though it was raining.
So the call to jury duty is that we got some mail that wasn't ours lol that was a call to jury duty....
It's been raining a lot. On Saturday it stopped raining for like 3 hours so we went to a dog park in our area and met a few people there and it was awesome. :))
Yesterday it didn't rain pretty much at all ALL DAY which was AMAZING!!! But overall, I like the rain π it feels fresh and it makes everything up here so green. Sometimes it's hard to tell what's grass and what's moss lol. And there are blackberry bushes literally EVERYWHERE, which is kinda fun.
Scripture of the week that's actually quote:
"Jesus came to the earth to do what we could not do for ourselves. He brought hope, peace, light, and understanding to a dark and ignorant world. The miracle of His Resurrection gives real meaning to His birth. The great message of Christmas is not in the birth of Jesus Christ but in His death for us. The message of Christmas would be nothing without the message of Easter. But our knowledge of the Savior and Redeemer is meaningless unless we obey Him, keep His commandments, and qualify for all the blessings that He has in store for the faithful." -President Russell M. Nelson
